Happy Tacoma Arts Month!
Every October, the City of Tacoma celebrates local artists with hundreds of arts events, exhibits, and workshops for all ages. There is something for everyone to enjoy: music, dance and theatre performances; hands-on experiences; visual art exhibits; literary readings; lectures; workshops; film screenings and cultural events.
Last year, I created the design and color scheme for Tacoma Arts Month, and designed various collateral, such as a 24-page brochure, tri-fold, signs, and numerous advertisements. To pay homage to the diversity of art in our community, I hid symbols within the Tacoma skyline that represent various forms of art. For example, the windows of the Pantages Theatre were replaced with a film strip, and a pillar on the cable bridge was replaced with a paintbrush.
As a last-minute add-on, I also created five Tacoma Arts Month banners that are hung annually in downtown Tacoma. It’s a joy seeing them return every October!
