While in Washington D.C. for MediaLab’s latest documentary, my team and I had a day off to explore the city or sleep in. Julia and I decided to venture out and navigate the D.C. subway system from our Airbnb in Virginia to the heart of D.C.
Our first stop was to 1776 D Street: headquarters for the Daughters of the American Revolution.
My mom recently became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), after spending years tracking down and confirming her ancestry to several soldiers in the American Revolution, and one founding father who signed the Declaration of Independence. She has been talking about visiting the DAR Headquarters in D.C., so I thought it would be fun to go there myself and surprise her with photos.
I haven’t been one to get too excited over ancestry, but being in that building brought a smile to my face. Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to explore the building, but I’ll be back again someday with my mom at my side!
